Touhou Luna Nights Review (NuppKnight)
To be transparent, one of the BEST metroidvania/platformer titles anyone can play. Time manipulation is implemented EXTREMELY well when it comes to the platforming and combat of the game. So many unique ways such as water being turning solid when time is stopped, and objects/enemies having certain properties that can change their behavior around time stopping. Examples would include ignoring, being in reverse, or only moving when time is stopped.
Combining both time slow and stop makes for interesting gameplay where some players can choose to slip through and dance through tough areas or scrap their way out using the tools at their arsenal. Either way, both ways of progression lead to satisfaction due to how areas are designed to not be easily overpowered by the mechanic of time manipulation.
Progression feels very nice to go through and experience, bosses allow for mass amounts of creativity of how to approach them, leading to different playstyles and trying out strategies to eventually overcome and be rewarded by the satisfaction of learning the patterns and how to respond to the attacks. Eventually you weave and slide in a dance with the bosses to take them out, and it's truly beautiful. Though I will say some enemies seem to have stacked as heck health nearing the end of the game which is a little tedious. On the note of that the game isn't too long, cracking down in maybe around 4 hours but the replayability value of the game is pretty good.
TLDR: VERY GOOD METROIDVANIA worth picking up if you're a metroidvania fanatic or someone looking for a game featuring the world of Touhou to enjoy.
also sakuya's bizarre adventure funny haha.
