Total War: Attila Review (Finn Jeumann)
Was hoping CA would have been able to learn from issues Rome 2 had, but apparently not.
"Oh you have increased the difficulty? Well now you have to deal with single settlement factions throwing two full armies at you when they have a gross income of 400 gold. What's that, you want diplomacy that makes sense? How about a random faction you haven't interacted with declare war on you every 5 turns even though they have no reason to dislike you."
Higher difficulty also seems to make your units suddenly retreat when winning their fight in battles, or cause LIGHT skirmishers to annihilate your HEAVY infantry by magic.
Also nice to see CA still hasn't fixed the bug from Medieval 2 where units will just straight up ignore commands you give them. It's really nice to have a plan thought out, but then I get flanked because 3 units are standing in place out of combat and not rushing to protect a weak spot or something.
Edit:
To better emphasize the stupid bug of units not doing what you tell them to. I had one battle where I was trying to get a couple Onagers to break open some gates. I command them to attack the gates, but they need to move up to be in range. They move up, then move up and move up until they are at the foot of the gates and done even fire on the gate. After repeating the attack order multiple times they did not change course
