Titan Quest Anniversary Edition Review (Gomer Anthrax)

I started playing this game because Grim Dawn was bumming me out -- i'd do something magnificent, vanquish some super powerful evil demon, then the game world would react with a "Yeah, great, he's dead and all, but we're still ROYALLY fucked." This is not to Grim Dawn's discredit, as they were really going for a bleak tone and nailed it, but sometimes I just want to feel like a badass and a solid homie for doing justice.
That's where Titan Quest comes in. It takes the whole "one person against an army of demons, monstrous animals, and questionable big-titty fan-service baddies" thing, and delivers it in a way that's a lot more hopeful and lighthearted.
I also find that the too-much-loot-at-once problem i run into with some other ARPGs is absent as well -- drops are more rare than, say, Grim Dawn or Diablo 2, but that also means i don't have to sort through a mountain of what basically amounts to trash, just to find the salient items. Itemization is fantastic, and having items of a lesser rarity that can, in some cases, completely trump items of a technically higher rarity...it just feels great and serves to encourage utilization of whatever comes your way, and lessens reliance on BIS items -- and makes the journey to getting those items a bit more bearable.
Over the last few months I've played nearly every big time ARPG in this vein that i could find, and Titan Quest is a contender for best of them all, in my opinion. It just FEELS good to play. Highly recommended.
