Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Shattering Spectreglass Review (Professor Gumbledorf)
I've basically copy and pasted my Coiled Captor's DLC review because much of what I said applies to this one. Well well well well well... What do we have here? A pretty fun DLC for TTWL? It's about time.
What does Coiled Captors Shattering Spectreglass offer for $10? A surprising amount, actually. The best thing, in my opinion, is the new character. They're really fun and wholly unique from the other characters already in this game, with really good synergy. The new Mirror of Mystery is pretty similar to the previous three, however, so Gearbox haven't tried to change things up for the final instalment of the Season Pass. What makes this laughable is players are forced to download this DLC by default, but they can't access it unless they pay for it.
If you played any of the Headhunter Packs from BL2, this is basically one of those combined with the new Chaos Chamber system from Wonderlands. Unlike a Headhunter Pack though, there's barely any story here. There also aren't any new enemies, aside from the final boss. In fact, there's a miniboss that's a CARBON COPY OF A BOSS FROM THE BASE GAME! Seriously Gearbox? On top of that, it's one of the most universally hated bosses from the base game. I would say it still smells like a lazy, minimal effort attempt to churn out another Chaos Chamber DLC, but the new playable character is so fun I can overlook corners that have been cut elsewhere.
This is actually the first TTWL DLC I'd recommend without any caveats. Sure, the new Mirror of Mystery is just more of the same, but the new character is so much fun I think it earns its $10 price tag. This DLC blows the others out of the water in terms of bang for buck. There's also new loot, some of which is really cool/powerful. When you consider this DLC is the same price as the three DLCs which came before it, it makes you realize how overpriced the previous ones were. They should be half the price of this DLC, at least.
You were so close, Gearbox. The new character is great, but the new gameplay is just more of the same stuff players have been complaining about since DLC 1. After BL2, seems like the devs forgot how to make good DLC.
