Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip Review (Spradley)

The good:
* The game is very much like a simpler, more family-friendly GTA, with an open-world city to explore, buildings to enter, cars to steal and collectibles to find
* The game doesn't take itself too seriously, with dry and often absurd humor, which is generally effective and makes interacting with NPCs enjoyable
* Reminiscent of vintage collect-a-thon games, as the main objectives involve finding money and "turbo junk" to buy useful items and turbo-drive upgrades for the player's car
* Driving is fast, hectic, and fun, especially after the aforementioned turbo-drive is obtained
The bad:
* The game sometimes feels like it's missing an element or two. For example: the driving feels like Crazy Taxi and the game even jokes about the car being intended to be a cab, but there is no taxi mechanic even though it would be fun and a great repeatable way to earn money
* Very short: it took me about 3 hours to beat the story at an easygoing pace, and about 2.5 more to find all the collectibles for 100 percent achievements - the game is $12 on sale right now, not the best bang for your buck
* Completing all the achievements is strangely a grind despite how casual the game is: finding all junk is very finicky even with an in-game detector item, and earning enough money to purchase everything takes a long time since it lacks a viable repeatable method like the one I proposed earlier. I did not expect going from endgame to 100 percent would nearly double my playtime
The verdict:
Certainly imperfect, but a very fun and funny game that's worth playing and probably deserves more fanfare than it's received. Pick this one up on sale.
