This War of Mine: Stories - Fading Embers Review (mr_metal)

As a huge fan of TWOM I am, this is the first time I am disappointed in a part of the game. The ending made me furious.
Spoiler alert, kiddos:
- Milena captured: OK
- Ruben left: OK
- Ruben leaving shelter because he has choosen over some Jewish artifact crap over saving innocent children souls freezing to death or getting killed by shellings: still OK, I care, but not too much
- Not that he would have turned to an ice cube under the snow and would have rotten away in the spring, if not even getting eaten by strays if I would not have saved his sorry ass: that is acceptable as well, I could not care less, let's move on
- We need to burn some things, because turning into an actual ice cube, since temperature is currently -2 C°, is far from cool (sorry for the word of play) is not a valid option having a goal set for saving a truck of antique sh.t, yet everyone's whining about everything all the time, even about making fuel from abstract wooden sh.t to save the rest of the collection actually worth saving (paintings, records): OK, still OK
But having no option to save all the stuff from the fire, if one does not negotiate with the army: NOT! ok. Far from OK. Really?
I have put so much time and effort in this run and all I could encounter with is Marie telling that some serious sh.t's gonna happen at night and that's all, we are helpless. If I could even drive the truck to the base shelter, where I have started. And there would have been some kind of chase from point A to B, from B to C and something further morality questions, nah, why, let's see the whole museum torn apart by bombs and flames... (Please let me know if I have ruined the game for myself, but I was not willing to trade the painting to a brute.) I helped the neighbourg, got my achievement. I saved the kids as I have already told about, one more achievement. I have shown all the possible humanity can be expected at times of sorrow, death, cold, blazing fires, turncoats, bandits, blood, pogroms, cannibalism and the darkest times for any living being (i.e. war), still was not able to save the truck. 11 bit studios, really?
I recommend the base game, Little Ones and ep 1. I am just about to play the Last Broadcast. But I can't remember Fading Embers. It began begun real good, but damn, man, that was a really disappointing finish. Just lacking the necessary creativity by the finish, which was at hand by making this ep. Nah...
*Edit: Please let me know if I could have left on the last day, when Marie came to the shelter. I seriously cannot remember if I have clicked on the departure option on the truck. I hope I didn't f.ck this up for myself and the game was illogical. Thanks
