TheHunter: Call of the Wild - Yukon Valley Review (Maiko)

Yukon Valley has to be my absolute favourite reserve in the game. Tried, tested, my go-to when I don't feel like hunting anything unique that this reserve doesn't have. The visuals are stunning and sensually sublime—just gazing at the snowy peaks contrasting against the crimson plains makes you want to stop and admire the time and effort the developers put into the scenery alone. The rugged, untamed wilderness with her tall spruces and rowdy locals makes it feel truly special. It's the one reserve that feels genuinely wild and gives you the feel of remoteness, as if you are cut off from civilisation and wandering through unadulterated, untouched wilderness.

That said there is just ONE pet-peeved I have, one small thing that could be tackled—the lack of unique species to hunt, or better yet, the lack of species in general. There are only 8 hunt-able animals on this map, 2 of which are unique, and one is getting a re-branded for the new Askiy preserve as Woodland Caribou. But there are glaring gaps in classes that could be filled in.

Now that Askiy, Alberta is getting the north American beaver, imagine how cool it would be to see those backfilled to Yukon as well, same for the Willow Ptarmigan, Alaska's state bird. What about some deer species? If not the newly remodelled mule Deer, then maybe their subspecies, the black-tailed deer, might fill in the niche. Or put in the effort and model in the sitka deer, anything to give us options for something smaller than a caribou but larger than a fox. And even if we already have the mighty Grizzly, there is approximately one black bear for each square mile in Alaska. They would make an EXCELLENT addition as well.

That said, this is still an amazing reserve, well worth the money. The story is fun, the environment is breathtaking. Overall really great place. It could just use some love in the fauna department. It is great but it could be perfect
