TheHunter: Call of the Wild - Rancho del Arroyo Review (auldnbald)

Tough map this one!
The terrain is undulating and rocky with large areas of dense, high scrub and grasses. If you are going to get line of sight on anything then you need to plan your spot and hope the animals are nice enough to be in the right place. Can be frustrating compared to other maps but extremely rewarding when you finally make the kill.
There are no species above class 6 in this reserve so know what you are getting into before you buy. You won't be sniping huge bison from distance and racking up the XP. More often, you'll be running down turkeys and pheasant for shotgun kills at close range or squinting to find the tiny bobcats, peccaries and coyotes hiding in the thick foliage. It's certainly a change of pace from other maps.
Having said that, it's frustrating that animals get spooked when you are 150m+ away from them, down wind and barely moving. At times the map can feel barren and you can go long stretches without so much as a whiff of prey.
Overall, it's a beautiful map, offers a high level of challenge and I'd give it a soft recommend. There are definitely better reserves available but this has a little something to offer. Just don't use it to grind for cash or XP.
