TheHunter: Call of the Wild - Cuatro Colinas Game Reserve Review (The Riel)

OK this one is pretty, the new species are interesting, the narrator is reasonable and the voice actress, oh my she REALLY tries to give her character some life. All nicely done.
My problem? My experience here might best describe this map as "Call of Duty: war of the wolves." Like you DO NOT leave the outposts without at leas a high caliber pistol. Because no no no, you are not the hunter here. THEY are the hunters, and you are their prey. Everywhere you go, a howl is your only warning. And then the game spawns them 4-6, 50 yards from you, all rushing in with teeth bared. I have yet to even see these bastards at a distance, I don't think the game renders them doing normal animal things. They spawn in only as part of an ambush mechanic. You need to shoot down at least 3 to drive the others off. And these Wolves, they are special tank wolves. .357? Buckshot, .233? They LAUGH at such tickle me calibers and keep coming.
And you kill 2-4 of them, drive off all other animals, collect your like 5K of in game cash, and you wonder why hunt anything here? This not a game preserve, this is a war-zone. Its Call of Duty, war of the Wolves.
Oh well guess I can always boot this map, put on the .454 casull, .308, and a slugs loaded shotgun and farm wolves for cash when I want.
I really wish this DLC handled even aggressive predators correctly. They have superior senses to most prey, are much smarter, and generally are stupidly hard to track and approach because normally already knew your butt was there the moment you set out. And they are flighty from a hunter. They can smell the threat upon you. You would have to wound or corner them to end up attacked in turn, as they don't want to risk tangling with a man who is walking around LIKE a fellow predator, which is exactly what you are, a hunter. There is a reason why nearly all predator attacks are, for one extremely rare, and women and children. And yes, rare. I think my 10 hours here I got attacked by wolves more than humans in the USA have in the last 100 years.
The other game in steam right now, Way of the Hunter handles wolves much more realistically. They are easy as hell to spook, at much longer ranges than deer, and they generally run like hell after the first gunshot, unless you somehow got the drop on them, they don't want to fight.
Now OK look I get it, they are going to make the predators more aggressive than normal to give the game some spice. And that is ok, it wouldn't be fun if you had only a 0.0001% odds of being attacked. But come on, its over tuned. Wolves should not ALWAYS attack you when they spot you.
And all of this, it spoils the illusion of this being a hunting SIM. This feels like a hunting arcade game where some COD player wants to have x number of kills per minute in a non-stop heart-pounding action fest. Which case, just go play bloody COD, its over there, it provides the heart-pounding action this game will NEVER provide. This is a slow-paced game by nature. This game was supposed to be for somebody seeking a REAL hunting experience, not what some urban-dwelling, never owned a gun in their lives, never seen more wildlife than a squirrel, action-junkie COD player wants to buy.
