The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone Review (Sawovsky)
Hearts of Stone is an excellent addition to the base game that fits smoothly into the game's world. The main plotline is one of the best side stories I've ever experienced in an RPG.
Things I like:
- A thrilling main story (contract) that involves many wild adventures and constantly introduces progressively crazier twists and turns. It's fun, it's exciting, it's full of surprises, and it's never dull. Expect the unexpected.
- A set of new, superbly written, and multilayered characters with fantastic voice acting. They are intriguing, mysterious, remarkable, and memorable. You'll press through the quests just to learn more about them and their stories.
- Quests are fun and unique, offering a refreshing experience compared to the base game, both in terms of locations and gameplay variety.
- The expansion offers additional world-building by adding many new locations and points of interest to the areas north and east of Novigrad and Oxenfurt, where we can unlock new side quests, learn more about some new factions, and explore the world even further.
- I really love the design of boss fights in this expansion. I like the visual design and themes of the new bosses, but more importantly, I like the gameplay mechanics around them. Each one has unique behavior, movements, attacks, and powers, making every fight a distinct challenge to complete.
