The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Review (Nyx Ouranos)
The story is mostly solid, and I'm in love with the fact it is multi-perspective game. I will give this game a lot of pros. The graphics were not terrible, and the interactions were decent. This however, was overshadowed by several complications.
#1 - Crashing. This game crashed so many times and caused frustration beyond belief. This can be fixed however. If you do play the game, go here and I highly recommend downloading the patch made. (https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Testament_of_Sherlock_Holmes) This patch made saving easy and honestly made the game worth completing.
#2 - Movement. The movement in this game was weird. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. I actually found the 1st person mode to make this easier to work with, as it removed the need to see the model of the characters. this made clicking accuracy so much better and not have to attempt to decide which one to pick. It genuinely caused some issues in the end.
#3 - Combinations. I swear to god I got to the point I couldn't anymore with combining items. It frustrated me because it never gave a hint or even a small indicator that certain items could be combined. I will be the first to admit I relied on a guide (I used a not so great one) to assist when I got stuck because I didn't know I needed to combine items. It was discouraging honestly.
In the end, I wanted to love this game. I enjoyed the style, wished it was a little more open world, enjoyed the story and how it was told. It was a great puzzle game, but in the end I cannot willingly recommend this game. With the patch I gave above, heck yea the game becomes tolerable and worth a single play through. Otherwise, I feel like the developers just made the game and left it to die. I wish there was a button instead of yes or no, that was recommend with caution or if you like the style give it a shot. I hope this review helps someone out there with this game.
