The Sims 3 Review (hemogoblin)

Recently switched to the Steam version because I didn't want to deal with any more Origin/EA App bull. Best decision of my life. It runs a lot better and smoother, I don't have to deal with the bloat heavy launcher as I play, and I've just had a better experience with this version than ever before. There are some new bugs that I keep seeing in my gameplay from time to time that I didn't see too much from the 8 years of playing the Origin/retail version, but nothing too game breaking and that NRaas can't fix. But, I've also noticed that I can play with the same family for a much longer period of time before it gets too laggy to the point it's barely playable, which happened a lot to me when I played retail when I'd get around the in game 5-6 week mark. So if you are planning to play a save that you'd like to have for a long time, Steam is 100% the way to go. I would heavily recommend the Steam version of this game to anyone who is a new player, or an experienced player like me who hated Origin. I also recommend using NRaas mods/game fixes/smooth patch to help the game run smoother, which also works so much better than retail. In conclusion, if you're planning on playing The Sims 3, buy the Steam version over anything else, it will be such a better experience in the long run.
