The Siege and the Sandfox Review (barizon, the lazy metalhead)

Edit: after getting through 50% of the game I'm changing the review to negative. People say that there is no combat but actually there is combat against the controls every time specially in the poisonous gas section. The unresponsiveness are driving me mental. Half of the time I've been through things like: guards hitting me from their back, aerial attacks not working, enemies beeing locked on red alert doing nothing at all, speed puzzles where you have to hit several times the button to make the sandfox getting up a ledge, aside from the other stuff I pointed like wall jumps and pole swings not working. I'll complete this one just to see the lore, overall it's beeing a chore now.
Very nice game, I remember eyeing this back in 2017 and totally forgot it. It is a mix of mark of the ninja and prince of persia, so far I'm at about 20% completion and enjoying it, aside from some bugs and control responsiveness below:
-Sometimes feels like the game doesn't register some commands like wall jump or the pole swings, and it can be very infuriating because there are rooms where one missed jump makes you fall right behind a guard and get killed;
-There was moments when you open a door, hide behing something waiting for the guard turn to the other side, and when I was following him the door automaticaly closed when I passed through, making the guard detect me and then I had to redo the room puzzle again;
-Other times after knocking down a guard and hiding on a vase to escape another guard locks him down in front of you, and as soon as you unhide you take a hit;
-Detection feels off, sometimes you land from 10 ft behind a guard and it doesn't detect you, and there was moments where they could detect me when I lit off a torch behind a closed door.
-Controls overall could be a little more fluid but maybe that's my personal preference as I tend to like controls in games as Ori, Mark of The Ninja, Spectre Knight campaign, etc.
If you are expecting something like Mark of the Ninja or Katana Zero take this one with a grain of salt, as it is a slower paced puzzle/exploration oriented game without combat (so far where I reached on my gameplay). All the things mentioned above almost made me consider requesting a refund, although I loved the slow pacing of it plus the visuals, atmosphere and narration. I'll give it a 7/10, not the greatest metroidvania as I ever played but not bad at all. I was expecting a bit more but I'm far from being disappointed.Edit: after getting through 50% of the game I'm changing the review to negative.
