The Pathless Review (agent_Napalm701)

What an amazing experience. It feels like a truly OPEN world that you can run and jump through and have a great time doing so, whilst also peacefully solving little puzzles, whilst also hiding in fear of monsters trying to hunt you down, and it keeps you going with a great storyline as well.
Pros:
- Excellent and creative open world traversal mechanics. Probably one of the most distinctive parts of this game is the flying, and the shooting to run faster.
- Music is so good you'll want to listen to it on Spotify.
- Beautiful art design.
- Well optimized and no notable bugs. As long as you don't have a total potato PC this will probably run well for you.
- Being hunted by the monsters in the storms feels very suspenseful and exciting, but not annoying or stressful.
- The world is very well laid out, and the UI while wearing the mask is well designed so that you do not feel like you need a map, which is an interesting accomplishment for an open world game. (Good thing it is designed like this, cause you DON'T get a map!!)
- You get a bird. Not just a bird that can carry you, but a bird that you can PET AND CUDDLE. Nuff said.
Cons:
- Sometimes the world feels a bit... empty? There are plenty of trees, ruins, mountains, grasses and other objects to explore, but I kinda wish there were more enemies and wildlife.
- Part of this game's charm is the suspense caused by the monsters that are hunting you, however after some run-ins with them you eventually realize that they can't really kill you, and this kind of ruins some of the suspense when you realize there isn't any penalty for messing up. I wish there were more consequences for getting breathed on by a jet of fire or getting knocked into lava instead of just getting back up again like nothing happened.
- As much as I loved it, the price is NOT right. This feels like a $25 game; $40 seems quite steep. In my opinion, there simply isn't enough content to justify the full price, and I highly suggest waiting for this to go on sale.
Really, really enjoyed this, and I am really surprised it doesn't have more reviews.
