The Outlast Trials Review (priMiTive)

Intentionally held out for this for review.
The amount of anticipation The Outlast Trials had when it was originally announced in 2019 was immeasurable. Stuck on a rinse and repeat pallet loop for hundreds of hours during that time, I was eager to see how Red Barrels would tackle the Cooperative Horror scene. Knowing their roots in the horror genre, my hopes were high.
Though patience tested us all during those times, Red Barrels proved that in order to create an authentic horror experience at an optimal caliber, it requires time to craft. Despite the adversity the team faced, not only does Red Barrels deliver with The Outlast Trials, they've given us something truly ****** unhinged.
If you consider yourself any sort of horror enthusiast, look no further. The thick skin for horror you might claim to possess will certainly be tested at the Sinyala Facility. Your sanity might slip, and there will be times you might have to walk away. That's fine, psychosis is part of the experience. The daunting pressure Red Barrels applies between player(s) and environment can seem overwhelming, but again, that's all part of the plan. Especially when the Goose is on the loose. With the completion of each Trial, you'll begin to understand the value this game not only gives to the player, but to the survival horror genre in totality. The Trials are meant to test you. Understand this experience will gift an unfathomable resilience not many can stomach. As a wise man once said, "suffering is the cornerstone of greatness."
Abandon the fog, close the hatch for good, and leave the lethal bugs at the sheep company. Strip yourself to bone and be reborn. If you seek the easy mode, party up. If you seek that grueling horrifying Outlast experience, embrace the Skinner and face the Trials alone. The feat you'll achieve will be far more rewarding. On the contrary, the reagents you'll meet along the way are truly one of a kind. We're far from sane. But as the credence goes, we're in it together.
Congratulations to Red Barrels on such a successful Early Access as they prepare to launch 1.0. The wait has been well worth it, and this last year of Early Access has been one hell of a bone chilling experience. I look forward to what the future holds for this incredible indie team and the horrifying cooperative mayhem of The Outlast Trials.🕷👁🐑
