The Operator Review (Jerikas)
I can't in good conscience give this game a good review, but I also can't give it a poor review. It's times like this I wish Steam had a middle-ground review option. This game was very fun and scratched an itch I didn't know I had. However, labeling it as an investigation game or describing it the way it does is misleading. Yes, there is some investigation, but there's really only one singular crime to solve. The storyline is very linear and easy to guess. If it were marketed as a game about solving a singular crime, that would be accurate, but it misleads you in the description by stating, 'Investigate mysterious crimes. Use cutting-edge FDI software to dig for clues, solve puzzles, and uncover the truth.' This is incorrect. You only use most of the 'software' exactly once, after implying you should read the extensive manual that comes along with it. This is a game that you could probably finish within 2-3 hours, which also doesn't justify its price. Honestly, they could have dropped the mid-tier storyline and just made a game along the lines of Criminal Minds or CSI, where you use these tools to try to solve cases, and it would be infinitely more fun. I know I'm probably the outlier here with my review, and I will say I did enjoy what they had, but it just wasn't what they promised in their wording and descriptions (maybe I misunderstood some stuff, who knows). There does seem to be an open door for expansions in the future, but if they're along the same timeframe as this game and offer only 2-3 hours of playtime, they should drastically reduce the price because as it stands, it felt like an expensive tech demo.
