The Manga Works Review (Greybishop)
I normally like Kairosoft games, having been playing them since they were just a mobile company around a decade ago. I can't recommend this title however.
This game is fairly minimal as far as game play goes. The player spends the majority of the game in their room/apartment looking at things or drawing, which isn't too far off Game Dev Story. Game Dev Story was Kairosoft's first game though, so I am willing to cut them some slack for that, likewise the game had a fun system of the different PC/Console evolution. This title has nothing like that at all. The game feels like it slows to a crawl as to just wait for the next button to confirm.
The point system used in this game for creating new manga has both a soft and hard cap, which made writing a new series needlessly complex. You had to push the soft cap by spending max points but around 200-300 points it slows down with the 500 or so hard cap you spend most of the game at waiting to write a hit that sells for 10-50 million copies so the hard cap increases.
A lot of information in this game is simply not explained. Like that writing certain combos will create a greater arc, likewise the game does not track those combos like in other titles. Or how the game sort of pushing you to get assistants, but doing so is less helpful than extra room equipment because one of the workers needs to walk to the players desk, rather than just start working like in other titles. I had times where the assistant wouldn't get to my desk until the weeks run was around 85% with the workers entering/leaving rooms, walking to desk, event resetting everything back to sleep and re-enter room.
If you are interesting in a fun mobile game that makes a decent PC port, I would suggest one of Kairosoft's other games like Ninja Village.
Edit: Just some notes as I try to 100% this. The exp gain for items is terribly slow. I have not gotten enough exp to level an item yet, with focus being on one item a whole run. The game time is also the shortest of the Kairo-games I know of, at only 5 years.
