The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie Review (SupriceSupplies)
Since this is the worst possible starting point in the series, I'll make this a quick one for those familiar with the franchise. All 9 games that precede it, in fact.
This game's one of the best in the entire series.
Each of the three routes are great. The mysteries are intriguing and all 3 protagonists get very satisfying conclusions to their character arcs. The new characters introduced are also incredibly likeable. (And be sure to read the in-universe book Three and Nine, accessible from the Backstory page on the main menu before getting into the game itself. Trust me, it'll pay off.)
Sidequests are kept to a minimum, with the game feeling a lot like Sky the 3rd in both progression and content. Whether this is a positive or a negative will depend on the person, but as for me, it's made the game feel a lot more focused and the story's pacing is excellent.
But for real, if you're a Trails fan, chances are Reverie will not disappoint. I personally consider it to be the 4th best game in the series (in other words it's amazing) and it made me excited for the series' future after Cold Steel 4 left a bad taste in my mouth. It's not without its hiccups (Lloyd Act 1 and how the postgame is structured come to mind), but it's overall a fantastic addition to the series, and I can't wait for Kuro's official announcement (even though the NISA store page is already up.)
