The Lamplighters League Review (SeoBear)
Game started out to be nothing extraordinary nor nothing bad, average at best but became more fun as you unlock more characters and discover combos with their skills which is the whole point of playing games. However, the game started going downhill i would say between mid to 3/4 mark of the game where it just became a chore to finish each battle due to the lack of fast forward option and have to wait each enemy to make their moves, imagine 20+ enemies making their moves, not to mention the wonky camera during enemy movements as well. Controller feels better to play this game but using Move in battle did not feel that easy to target properly so i used keyboard mouse in the end.
Pros:
-Unique art style that fits the theme
-Nice music that goes well with the environment & during battle
-Good number of characters to choose from for ur own builds
-Recon mode available both before and during battle to let u scout the area and view enemy status
-Different variety of stealth/sneak skills that makes it unique
-Wide variety of mobs and mechanics
-Dialogues between characters were nice and interesting as it talks about their backgrounds
-Cutscenes are short and sweet
-Quest markers to show the way which helps alot
-Covers actually works for both me & the enemies
Cons:
-Lack of showing the accuracy % when moving to a spot if within range of shooting
-Lack of displaying character stats like crit chance/dmg
-No option for toggle to sprint or auto run
-No option to enable auto save after each battle, only have auto save at start of mission which defeats the purpose if ur game crashes or freezes
-No option to fast forward, especially for enemies when there are like alot of them(20+) which takes forever to finish and i can't even alt tab while they move since the game pauses
-Game is not optimized properly especially during the loading screen, in the later stage of game entering the supplies store & learning new skills lags the game
-Feels like the lack of gear that can be bought using Supplies is disappointing as once i bought the tier 2 armor my supplies basically stopped being used, had 3k+ supplies but nothing to spend on at late game
-Understand that the doomsday timer is there to prevent overgrind but having the timer to progress most of the time without a good way to push it back due to breakpoints prevented me from finding all characters in the end, thus missing their dialogues
-Camera movement is weird and keeps turning constantly, everytime you target an enemy the camera moves from the back of your character to the enemy to show the line of sight, hence if u target multiple enemies the camera just moves constantly up down left right
-When enemy moves, sometimes the camera follows the enemy, sometimes the camera goes to where the enemy will land at before it even reaches, sometimes camera doesn't move from where it last was, idk im just confused which is the intended way
-Repeated maps for certain missions with the same layout
-At one point my animation for shots stopped showing randomly although the damage does appear afterwards like some ghost shell
In the end, at the final battle of the final mission, halfway through the battle after the enemy ended their turn the game just stopped working, not freeze nor hang but it just did not end the turn properly and could not proceed to my turn. Could not even force end turn or abandon mission since its a critical mission and had to alt f4 and guess what, had to do the mission from the start again. I just felt done at this point and dropped the game and wrote this review. Went to youtube to see the ending which was just dialogues, kinda wished there was a mini cutscene or something.
Would not recommend to buy at full price, bought at 30% off and still felt that it wasn't worth that much. If you wanna get, would recommend to get if 50% or more discount.
