The Jackbox Party Pack 10 Review (Crusalis)
All Jackbox Party Pack games are the sum of their parts. When a new one come out, it's not just if the games inside it are good, but better or on par with what came before it. Truthfully there is nothing in this pack that outshines the others which you could be playing instead.
T-KO 2 does nothing to improve itself from the original besides new art and music, along with the ability to choose your 'type' of shirt (Putting a dent in the name given they are no longer always T-Shirts). It's a format that if you jump back to the original, nothing is different save the ability to re-draw one previous drawing, which while funny isn't selling this as its own independent game, and the last round which is oddly a 'mash the screen' victory rather than a vote when nothing truly changes.
Time Jinx, while an okay trivia game, wears down quick as it is nothing general knowledge compared to say, the Wheel or Murder Party versions of a trivia game. Focused on dates and decades, it's rather bland. There's only so many times you can enjoy 'When did this happen' before it gets old - that is, most likely after one round of it.
Hypnotorious is a game about lying, but not to the extent of Fakin' It because the odd one out doesn't know they're precisely that. This also comes into the problem that you have to know what it is you are assigned, otherwise your round is practically done. While it isn't every single time, we've had more than once somebody say 'I don't know who this is' as it pops up on their screen.
FixyText was not particularly interesting. It's two teams 'answering a text' in the form of a prompt given with the twist being that everybody can type at the same time and there is no ability to back space. Like Time Jinx, it gets old very quickly.
Finally the best game of the bunch is probably their most original - though it isn't an original concept. DodoReMi is a rhythm game much in the vein of Rock Band where notes come down a track and you tap the screen to play and build combos. It's a great game, hence why there are so many clones out there, but it isn't going to be original other than its with up to 9 people all playing a track from 'easy' three note instruments to five note ones with far more intensity. Fun, and you'll enjoy it if you enjoy those games, but the song selection does get old rather quickly.
Overall the price of this game to you is one weighed against 9 other games with clearly better choices. It's hard to say 'Let's play Jackbox 10' when you can easily go to other titles with the precious hours you have with family. Pick it up if you want to add it to your list of things to choose from during the evening, but know there are better titles from this same company you can buy instead.
