Prologue
A young guy named Henry is really desperate for money, but instead of trying by legal means, he has the "brilliant" idea of breaking into a bank in the middle of nowhere, not knowing that this single idea will take him to several different places, each with different options to reach the goals, but also, many and the most varied options to fail in painful, strange and sometimes just totally chaotic ways. Everything is present in this work, completely reworked and now ready to provoke real fits of laughter, which amused this writer a lot, who will try to describe this hilarious work here. ^^
Pros:
+ Very fun story, both in successes and failures, making me all the time while playing to have a smile on my face.
+ Great sense of humor, I laughed at almost every joke in the game, from the first chapter to the last.
+ Simple art, but well done and very well used, combining stick characters with colorful and worked backdrops, full of references in the settings or characters.
+ Several of the characters, even some that only appear in a single chapter, have quality voices.
Cons:
- Sometimes when played in full screen mode the game crashes and I need to close it and open it again. Something warn in the game itself when we choose the full screen option.
- Also sometimes, when we use the right button to get the characters the game gets a few thousandths slower before returning to normal.
Game mechanics
Trying to sum it up simply, the game is a great story of choices, where some with time and others with all the time the player needs to choose the way the protagonist will try to continue along the path, however care is not enough, because several times the most obvious choice most of the time is not the right one, but the door to the most different and crazy failures crowned by sarcastic comments when the failure screen presents itself, but all done in a light and fun way, without the aura of punishment, making in my opinion a pleasant exploration, even though I've seen all the flaws from all the chapters, but instead of making me angry, they make me laugh a lot, and soon it's ready for the next one. ^^
Another interesting point is the achievements, not easy enough to only play the game once, but not difficult enough to bother or disturb the story, after all, most are linked to the story. Including a very interesting achievement for fans of another successful distributor Innersloth. ^^
Art and sound
Originally produced in 2008 for browser, now remastered with new, more detailed and beautiful scenarios, but still keeping the simplicity, after all, all the characters in the game are made of sticks, identified by their hair and many, many different types of hats, something very creative and efficient in my opinion to identify both recurring and for other universes characters in the references, especially since none of the characters wear other pieces of clothing. ^^
In the soundtrack part we have a wide variety of music and sound effects for the various items used during the game. But what I liked the most were the characters' voices in English, of good quality both for characters that appear only in a moment and for characters that appear in several chapters, and a curiosity, the protagonist almost never speaks during all the chapters, even so, the combination of art and soundtrack manages to make the protagonist's intentions very clear. ^^
Conclusion
The Henry Stickmin Collection is a game that I had heard about and seen a few scenes before in videos, but this didn't reduce the quality and fun I had with the game in any way, making me laugh and relax even with the jokes and fails that I've already met, so here I strongly recommend it to anyone who wants a fun story full of moments and references to have a good laugh. Just remember not to get too caught up in the logic, because several times the right answer is the least logical one, after all, as I said, it is a game with a very chaotic story. ^^
