The Dream Machine Review (Chikara)
I do recommend the game, but be aware that you will have to save, quit and restar every 5-30 min depending on how much dialogue there is. It slows to a halt otherwise. I also recomment starting it from outside Steam via the game folder.
This is an amazing adventure that takes you to some incredible settings where you get to meet various interesting characters and solve many fun and creative puzzles. The storytelling is out of this world and if you were to tell a friend what you had just experienced - they would not believe the story you are telling.
It is dark and scary at times and cheeky and heartwarming at others. The creators have clearly put a lot of time and effort into this game and I hope they make a remake outside Flash so it runs smoother.
The big downside with this game is that there is so. much. dialogue. It goes on and on with sub-options with even more options and the replies goes on forever and you have to go back becaue it might have popped up a new one after you spend 15 min talking to another character talking about the other characters. That type of gameplay is not my thing. I prefer visual storytelling over text and talk.
Some puzzles I would have never figured out, they did not make sense to me and some things I see what I am supposed to do but the game will not allow me until I have talked to someone or have found another object, meaning that things that are not pickable or clickable suddenly becomes interactable just because you talked to someone. That is annoying.
Overall it is an amazing project, a great adventure and I think that if you like these kind of games, give it a go!
