The Dream Machine: Chapter 6 Review (Drakkece)

Finally, the wait is over.
As a long-time fan of the point-and-click genre, I can safely say that The Dream Machine stands among the best in the genre for outstanding visuals, great audio, solid plot and good gameplay.
The long awaited Chapter 6, unfortunately, only hits some of these marks. Chapter 5 was undoubtedly the peak of the series for me with some great puzzle solving and variety. Chapter 6 was somewhat of a setback, feeling like it sacrificed the game design for visual awe. And indeed, chapter 6 is incredible to behold with some of the trippiest set design and some of the best organic lighting I've seen.
Don't get me wrong, chapter 6 is still an enjoyable finish to this series, but where I was long awaiting the mystery of entering an interpretation of a fetus's dreams I instead was given a sequence of trying to enter them, with the game finishing abruptly and rather anticlimactically once you do. There is very little in the way of puzzles in this chapter with a whole lot of walking and talking (with 'yourself' basically). Ironically the entire theme of the zone you traverse is unlimited potential, but I couldn't help but feel that there was a lot of potential unrealized.
So for those looking to finish these series off - yes, definitely worth it, but not quite the epic finish that I personally was hoping for.
+Amazing visuals
+Breathtaking lighting
+Fitting and superb audio
-Little/poor puzzles (gameplay)
-Lack of interesting character interaction
-Abrupt and unfulfilling end
