it's a difficulty (26 health per instant health pickup) somewhere between max sec (28 health) and hardcore (21 health), but you restart at the start of a chapter when you die/reload, and sell prices for non-contraband items are even lower than hardcore.
that's it.
all you get from it are cosmetics and two new achievements. beating the mode gets you NG+ for the mode. coming off of dead space (where you get the level 6 suit in NG+), dead space 2 (with elite suits in NG+ and the hand cannon for beating hardcore), and dead space 3 (with a bonus resource pack for beating one game mode, the hand cannon for another, and retro mode for yet another, as well as special upgrade chips for gathering relics or beating the game on the highest difficulty), it's really fucking tiring only getting NG+ every time you beat one of these harder game modes that aren't that much harder when you already know the game pretty well. really, the biggest thing that these difficulties do is make you wait for GRP energy to recharge so you can instant kill more enemies without chugging all your batteries.
