The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth Review (goopydoop)
I recently discovered The Binding of Isaac, and racked up around 450 hours in my first year and a half of playing. That being said, I downloaded Rebirth by itself first and purchased the DLC separately over a long period of time, progressing when I thought I was ready. I did not buy Repentance as I knew it was for Windows only (I have a Mac).
I mindlessly updated my computer about two weeks ago (Mid-April 2025), and am no longer able to open any version of the game. I know this is an Apple issue and not necessarily a game issue, but I think there could have been more effort to warn players once they realized this change was in effect.
I am devastated as I feel I can no longer play what quickly became one of my favorite games. Now I have to get an entire new laptop for this game, as all of the other games I play on Steam still run perfectly fine. I'm sure there are other Mac users that are having this issue as well; no matter how many times you go into the files and delete mods and folders, it won't work.
Thank you for the time I spent, and I will definitely play again when I can afford a computer that runs 32-bit games and doesn't suck for larger games like TBOI AB+, and eventually repentance.
I am disappointed that I can't have my nightly isaac run, but, if you have the means, it's definitely worth the download. One of the most enjoyable games I've ever played.
