Tetris Time Warp - Original game made exclusively for this collection - 4 Players
So the collection has 18 games in total, though a lot of the games are ports, re-releases or remakes. There are 4 computer versions of Tetris that are completely identical (except for Apple II which is way buggier), only 1 actual console version of Tetris, 1 handheld version of Tetris, 3 versions of Hatris (???), 6 versions of Bombliss (??????????), Super Tetris 3 which is Tetris with two whole new modes, Tetris Battle Gaiden and Tetris Time Warp. If you choose to play only your favorite normal Tetris, your favorite Hatris and your favorite Bombtris you are left with 6 unique Tetris games.
"It's a collection of Tetris Games, what did you expect?" There are actually many unique versions of Tetris over the 40 years that this collection claims to celebrate but the list of games just seems to end at 1999. Really disappointed that the game collection ended this early and eventually it became just a documentary. I would have given the game a positive review if at least Tetris Plus was in the game.
Tetris Time Warp is the only original game and it is actually really good. It uses all the modern rule sets and the Time Warp mechanic is awesome. It seemed to only include 3 games though; Tetris Game Boy, the original Tetris on Elektronika 60 and Bombtris. It's a collection of "15+" games, they should have used at least a few more of them.
All in all it's more of an interactive documentary than it is a game. There are only 6 unique versions of Tetris and the oldest ones are more of a novelty than anything else. I wish they would have been more up front about this being a documentary first and a game collection second. Tetris Time Warp is a really fun game and I'd love for it to be a stand alone game but I think the price is too high to buy it for just that game alone. It might be worth it if you have nostalgia or are really interested in the 18 games that are in the collection though.
