Teardown: The Greenwash Gambit Review (Fahrräder)
TL;DR
Boring, bloated, tedious. The space theme boils down to some anti-gravity crystals, weak lore, and finally a little bit of zero-G action in a station whose design makes little logical sense. Maybe worth it on sale, but definitely not worth the 12 hours it took to complete.
Can't really recommend this one. After finishing it and going back to replay some main campaign levels for fun, the difference in quality is pretty stark.
The main campaign, while also a bit bloated, has mostly charming, varied, and genuinely interesting levels. This DLC gives you just three maps - two of which are bland industrial buildings with minimal variety or interactive elements. Where dat space theme at? Gravity crystals that don't even work on you, and an ambiguous black hole McGuffin?
Only the third map is the space station that unlocks near the end with three missions, and despite being set in space, it's equally boring and bereft of interesting features.
Most disappointing is the lack of opportunities for creative problem-solving. The problems themselves rarely have interesting or elegant solutions, which goes against what makes Teardown special, and trying to be creative with the limited uses of the new tools is tedious.
The ending falls flat, and the story is lame. It's supposed to be funny, but it boils down to "fetch resources to build a rocket launcher to destroy the Big Bad Black Hole." Why can't you destroy it immediately, when it's right there for you on the second map? Security, I guess :p The robot companion is more annoying than helpful or charming with its forced "personality" while being completely inane in action.
Maybe worth picking up if you're really craving more Teardown content and modding tools, but it's hard to recommend it for pure fun.
