Teardown: Folkrace Review (EyeDonutz)
This was probably one of the worst fucking DLCs I've had the displeasure of playing in my goddamn life. Whoever thought that Teardown's janky physics would go perfect for a racing game was out of their mind. The voxel worlds and cars cause many, MANY issues in just trying to control the damn vehicles and not get it. Often times you'll fall straight into the ground and instead of sliding onto it, you just stop dead in your tracks.
One of the most major issues by far is how bad almost every vehicle was at turning. Most of the Teardown vehicles weren't really made with turning in mind since that took precious mission time in the base game usually, so adopting the same poor turning in a mode where you almost exclusively use these slugs is a baffling decision, The best vehicle by far was somehow the fucking Food Truck, which controlled by far the best and had the least issues, so if the devs need a reference point for a GOOD Teardown vehicle, it's right there. Also, the Monster Trucks by FAR controlled the worst, they were genuinely so bouncy it was legit impossible to fucking play with them. Actual travesty.
Another issue is the modes within the DLC. The normal lap racing is whatever, mostly ruined by bad vehicle design and boring tracks, and the worst one by far was elimination mode, requiring 30 secs per person which just takes forever to get through. Derbies were actually kind of fun for the most part, even with the awful vehicle jank, and honestly, I don't understand why the derbies weren't the focus of the DLC. Like, it's Teardown, derbies are about tearing other vehicles, it's theoretically perfect and the janky vehicle driving wouldn't hinder it nearly as much.
And to top it off, the external missions that are more akin to base Teardown are boring as shit. The town you are in has very little in terms of actual level design and you also don't even need to do the levels for money if you have half a brain and skip most of the cars and other useless upgrades and save cash. The upgrades for the vehicles are also bland as shit, no real thinking required as for what to buy. Just go for the max that's it (and you don't even need to buy a van for some reason??? Cus you just get a free food truck with really good stats??? What???)
The only positive I can give this is the music, it was all bangers. Otherwise this was an awful, rage-inducing experience and I frankly do not want to touch this ever again.
