Tales of the Neon Sea Review (deadravenx)
i got this game for free on epic a few years ago and decided to try it on a whim, and then i bought it again on steam.
The puzzles were good except for that one section (real ones will know what I'm talking about), moving around felt a bit clunky, especially when climbing stairs or jumping around. The story was alright - just your average detective thriller. The characters were likeable and their designs were really nice. Overall I loved the worldbuilding and the buildup of catching the bad guy at the end.
But... what keeps me coming back to this game is the art.
Something about the pixel art style, the vibrant shade of neon pink that pervades the cityscape, the character designs and the animations - the game's graphics scratched an itch I never knew I had. I wouldn't say this game is exactly replayable beyond one or two runs, but I powered through a second and a third time because of how much I liked the art. Overall, if you were to play this game, I would suggest that you immerse yourself in the rich art style and the stunning atmosphere it helps create. That's what made it such a huge hit for me.
