Surviving Mars: Martian Express Review (Boomerix)
Hear the warning of the negative reviews, do not buy this DLC.
I bought it and regretted it so much I asked for a refund.
The bugs and restrictions of the train system make the game actively more frustrating.
If you like trains in General you won't like this DLC. If you thought this might be a neat way
to transport Colonists and resources around the map you won't like this DLC.
Whatever you come up with how the train could be useful to your colony, it will disappoint you.
I am very, very disappointed. I really like using trains and hoped that despite tha negative reviews it would be a neat feature. It should have been a warning already that a modpack with fixes is recommended by the community, fixes that you'd think would come via regular patches. In all honesty this feature should have stayed a mod, as the modder clearly cares enough to update his work and it being free you could forgive it's limitations. If a free mod doesn't work as intended and your colonists refuse to use the train to get to work no matter how often you rebuild you stations (as suggested as a fix) you shrug your shoulders and say "aww too bad". If a paid feature does it on the other hand it feels more like being scammed. Especially if there are no patches coming to fix those bugs.
I don't know what has happened behind the scenes regarding this DLC, but it being sold as a Paradox product has made it actively worse. Do your wallet and yourself a favour and do NOT buy this the Martian Express.
