Supermarket Simulator Review (Amjara)

Have a dream of designing and running your own supermarket? Well then Supermarket Simulator is the game for you.
Gameplay & Features
In this game you get to own your own supermarket, starting off with a small storefront that sells a limited supply of goods. You can expand your store eventually, design it the way you want, hire employees, restock the shelves and decide what you want to sell.
There are eventually a lot of items you will be able to buy. As your store levels up you can purchase licenses to sell more products. Some will require special equipment like fridges so keep this in mind when picking your products. Once ordered your products immediately are delivered in boxes to the front of your store. You simply grab the box, open it and place the items where you want them. If you want to stock up on items for the future you do have a storage room in a separate space off to the right of your store that you can buy items for as well such as storage racks. It is also expandable, like your store.
The Visuals & Audio
Visually this game looks pretty good for a simulation game in early access and at its price point. I was really pleasantly surprised. You can walk around the block taking in the scene. When you walk around you really get the sense you're in a small neighbourhood running your own small store.
The food items themselves are very well done. Clear and clean labels and the product packing is well done and readable. You can tell a lot of care went into the small details of the game to enhance your immersion.
The NPC’s like in most sims are okay. They do clip and you will see lots of duplicates. And they do have that common “deer in headlights” stare that you see a lot in sim games (even some triple A’s too-looking at you Starfield). But I expect most sim games put their focus primarily into the environment, the mechanics and the quality of life stuff.
In terms of audio all the ambient sounds you expect to hear are well done. Like the beep of scanning items for example. For music you need to buy a speaker from the furniture shop. Then you can select what music you’d like to play in your store once purchased. It is your classic, instrumental type music that you hear in real life stores while shopping. I hope they add seasonal tracks when the holidays roll around.
Early Access Wishlist
* Update prices of items and see their quantities on your computer. To go around and check labels individually when you start expanding is pain.
* Allow us to snap our furniture pieces in place to line them up. Allow us to turn the snap option on and off so for some items you can place them freely if desired.
* We need the ability to move products without a box. Or if a box is needed have it as a quick select option (a box dedicated to moving products around that we always have access to and fits ALL products)
Overall Experience
To say I am impressed with a simulator game, in early access, to this point is an understatement. I have played many sims and most are pretty bad. The devs actually listen to feedback and post on the main menu what is upcoming and they are working on.
It is refreshing to have a positive experience with a sim in early access when a lot of times you don’t get that experience in fully released ones. I got my copy on sale for $12 and honestly this is a really good price for the fun I am having.
Is there much needed features, yes (see my wishlist section) but it is in early access so if you are not one who wants to contribute to the development of the game or finding issues then it is best to wait. But for those who love sim games and don’t mind early access there is still enough here to have some fun.
The achievements would not pop for me right away. After moving my cash register and serving another customer my first two achievements popped. So they can be buggy.
