Superliminal Review (Yo)

Forget everything you know about reality, depth perception and perspective.
In Superliminal, you play as a patient undergoing a sketchy medical treatment to 'cure feelings of self-doubt'. During your dreams, you explore beautiful but eerie dreamscapes where things aren't always what they seem to be. The soothing voice of your therapist will be by your side as you solve mind-bending puzzles that will get you stuck and frustrated. Most of these puzzles can be solved by changing your perspective on them, often having solutions that are completely logical but don't make sense at the same time. Around halfway through the game, your brain will have been rewired to think outside the box and you will approach every room with a new mindset.
Gameplay and story are closely intertwined, as you get deeper into the dreamscapes you get this feeling of being completely lost when in reality you're going exactly where you're meant to go. Puzzles you solve can be compared to real-life problems, and their out of the box solutions show that any problem can be solved by changing your outlook on it. Superliminal carries a strong message of succeeding in the face of adversity which comes together during the final chapter of the game, as you reflect on everything you have accomplished.
While the game is short (around 3.5 hours for a blind playthrough), it does offer extra challenge rooms that can be compared to Portal's challenge mode as interactions with the level are limited. It also has two speedrunning achievements that are pretty satisfying to get as you breeze through the entire game in under half an hour after just a bit of practice.
