Super Night Riders Review (Ogachi)
I see a lot of people saying this game is Outrun with motorcycles. I've never seen more blatant disrespect for a video game in my life. This game has nothing to do with Outrun. This game is a clear callback to Outrun's older brother, Hang-On!
Jokes and semantics aside, Super Night Riders is a modern attempt at the Super Hang-On formula, bringing it to a 3D space. It controls tightly, has a sensible driving model, and a pretty cool soundtrack. It checks the boxes, it does the job just fine. I could spend some time picking at it, how it really could use a few more environments/variations to the environments it has, how it is WAY more intense than Hang-On about how many bikes can be on the road at once, and how the Red Rider needs to be like... a centimetre shorter so I can see where the heck I'm going when I'm coming over a ridge. However, that's just picking. If you were into Hang-On on Super Hang-On, you'll be into this.
Probably something worth noting that I enjoyed was heading into the extras menu and reading the instruction manual. The bonus art you can find suggests that the dev actually was pretty into the game they were making, something I enjoy. Overall, I think Super Night Riders is pretty fun!
