Street Fighter 6 Review (MartinMystery)
Fix the in-game currency. You have 250 and 500 coin options and nothing that people will buy is an even charge with it. Outfits are 300, characters are 350. What am I supposed to do with that extra money when I don't want to be your cheesy ass avatar items, I just want to play the game with some neat customization, but can't catch a break. How bad is it to just let us pay a flat fee? SFIV didn't have me paying for the default outfit colors or lead me to have extra money just sitting and rotting in the leftover balance. Pretty scummy Capcom. It currently costs well over $100 to buy all colors for the default outfits, each character's (18) outfit 2, one new stage, and 4 DLC characters. So predatory that they belong on Chris Hanson.
EDIT ON 1/30/2025:
I was feeling spicy and decided to add up all the numbers of what Capcom wants you to pay them. Yes this is accounting for the ultimate yearly passes and what they offer (stages and outfit 3s and colors for DLC fighters), but obviously not accounting for sales and the game's price. This is as of today's date, so it's subject to change, and keep in mind that there are two characters and one stage not released yet for Year 2 ultimate pass.
Year 1 = $50
Year 2 = $50
Colors for Outifts 1 on original lineup = $123.99
Costumes (Outift 3) for original lineup = $100
Fighter Images = $128.98 (wtf!?)
Music = $47.98
TOTAL = $500.95
Here's a quick FC breakdown:
250FC= $4.99
610FC = $11.99
1250FC = $23.99
2750FC = $49.99
Here we are being robbed by a company that is worth millions all because you want to make your experience more fun and how you want it. These are cosmetics, things that you don't need to play the game, but yet it's what we all want because there's lots of fun in how they look and change the vibes. I really don't understand why they need to drain our wallets over this, it just makes me sad. It makes me not want to play other characters because I can't customize them and I'm stuck with just having the 2nd outift as an option.
Would this still be an issue if there was the option to grind online matches to earn FC? It all depends on how time consuming that would be, but we won't ever know. It is horrific having to pay $60 for the game and then $100 for the yearly passes. You can't tell me this is worse than past games because they had lower prices and offered more outfits at once, usually having it be at most $20 for upwards of 44 character outfits.
The entire shopping process is a huge PITA with weird purchasing amounts and constantly having extra FC to spend. If you bought everything listed above you would have 650FC leftover which is a hair over $11.99. The FC amounts are scummy by making you believe you are getting a bonus amount, but you are always going to pay for that extra weird bit they added in for no reason; you may think 610FC is better than buying 500FC, but the extra $1.99 is accounted for in the 110FC difference.
Every single item is unreasonably priced. I don't care if they add in every single character from the franchise, you will never catch me buying an overpriced MTX in this game, period. My experience is bare bones day 1 and it will stay that way.
