Street Fighter 6 Review (Crash Bendicoot)
TLDR; game is fun and I would give a neutral score if allowed due to the business model of this game.
A note-
The Ultimate Edition DOES NOT contain the classic skin of the classic roster (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Guile and etc). You will have to buy them separately via in game purchase of another currency type that is not shown on main steam store until you choose to buy the currency.
I purchased the Ultimate Edition thinking it would include them since it IS called ULTIMATE and is the most expensive edition to include everything to date but nope-
As mentioned by other reviewers as well, the marketing team seem to have made it as confusing as they could so that they can charge us money first and let us decide if we want to go through the hassle of complaining or just live with it.
Shame on me for not reading the description more carefully nor reading more reviews before purchasing so don't make the same mistake as me if the classic skins are part of your main reason to buy this edition. I watched multiple video reviews too but nobody mentioned this.
My opinion? Unless you really want to get all the extra stuff like extra custom avatar shop currency, 2 stages and skin /color for the "Additional Characters"? Buy the base game or Deluxe edition on sale THEN buy the classic skins in game if you really want to.
Don't get me wrong, game is good. It's fun. Has new control schemes which caters to both vets and newcomers.
The devs also did a real good job changing up the vibes of the game while retaining it's charm of SF; perhaps even enhancing it somehow (imo anyway).
They even have seasonal limited time events such as collab crossovers with anime Spy X Family (You can get Yor and Lloyd Forger's outfit for your avatar) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles too. I don't know if they will ever do a rerun for them but I sure am hoping they do so that players who missed them can have a chance to get them too in future.
I love the game and IP but hate the corporate behind them. I think most fighting game lovers share similar sentiments in today's day and age of gaming where micro-transactions are running rampant everywhere.
If it is going to be the most expensive edition, I am expecting to get everything that is available in the game... "Ultimate Edition" isn't exactly "Ultimate" if it doesn't contain that. You can argue that "This is how the industry is like now, you should know better"-
Yes, I know but that is the issue. Why did we allow this to become the new normal?
Anyway, that is just my opinion so I am sharing it here since this is my review of my experience purchasing and playing this game.
It will probably not matter much but I am giving a negative score in hopes that the corporate side will know that there are still people who are not happy with such practice and also alert fellow players who are looking into reliving some nostalgia of the classic skin to avoid paying extra and not getting what they expected to get.
I got the Ultimate Edition thinking I've spent enough to get everything the game has to offer as of the date of purchase and boy was I surprised to see that there are still more content locked behind a pay wall. The contents are already completed and patched into the game.
You just have to give CAPCOM more money to access these content
NO. That's a bad CAPCOM.
BAD.
