Stasis: Bone Totem Review (ChilledGhost)
Everything about this game in uncanny.
Cut scene animations, facial animations - the entire scenery gives me the creeps. As it should, the driving force of this game series has always been the atmosphere. A lot has been improved in this game, whilst the previous one felt like it lacked in puzzle elements, often having to endure puzzle elements that didn't make sense, this one was pulled off much better.
I recommend playing it, one of the better modern point and click adventures. Animation might look like jank sometimes, but it gives it charm.
A most terrifying existence, something that stuck with me from the game was a character called Faran. It is obvious from the start that there was something off about him - and through the written messages that you find in the game, you already know what is happening.
The worst part is, he doesn't. At first, he doesn't even believe you, denies it - lashes out in anger. Though, none of that matters to you.
After all, all that is left of him is a central nervous system and a brain, that's all. In a pod, a nightmarish existence, being kept alive by machines that run off emergency power. His memories fogged, mixed with others in a dream like state. He isn't even aware what has happened to him, still believing that the lights are off and it's just darkness, feeling like everything is alright.
What a horrible existence. I felt the connection between him and Moses grow, this helpless being trying to finish off his story, even encouraging each other.
