Stars in the Trash Review (vMeezo)

A beautiful art style, and relatively satisfying platforming. Narratively though, it almost requires you to create the story for yourself. It's ok that our cat character isn't one that talks, and I suppose it's fine that there's no actual dialogue either. But, the presentation of the game itself left me feeling like I never really connected with our cat or any of the other animals/people we interacted with.
The story is basically "A day in the life of a cat," which fails to give you a gripping reason to do any of the things you're doing. There are portions of the game that feel like they're supposed to have an emotional impact, but it is difficult to actually care about the world around me when I never really felt like I was part of it.
I suppose the description, "narrative-driven platformer that combines action, exploration and puzzles," is misleading at best. Narrative Driven feels like a huge stretch, given it never really feels like there's anything more than your own desire to finish the game pushing you through.
Overall I'm just kind of underwhelmed. It is another instance where I've been pulled in due to my love of cats and great art. It's a short experience that I can't imagine making a second play through for. The most minute of recommendations.
