Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy Review (shreeb)
Completing the legendary duology, Jedi Academy is the ultimate Jedi Knight experience.
The series as a whole managed to build on the last experience every step of the way, and the payoff is exponential in their final installation.
The singleplayer campaign follows the story of Jaden Korr, a brand new Jedi Apprentice, assigned under Kyle Katarn, (who after the events of Jedi Outcast has become a vital part of Luke's Jedi Order) and you play out the events of your training.
As is expected for the series, your character ends up crossing paths with the Sith, and chaos ensues.
The gameplay is stellar, continuing off of what the previous established, the fluid combat, excellent force powers, and responsive movement. Slicing the heads off of Stormtroopers, and stealing the lightsaber off of a Dark Jedi to throw through the skull of another Dark Jedi has never felt so awesome.
However, the vanilla experience barely scrapes the surface.
This game has a very active modding community, with tons of complete overhaul mods, such as Movie Battles II, which changes the entire game to include various maps from all over the Star Wars universe, and tons of fan favorite characters. You can even play online with other players, with fairly active servers even to this day!
There are endless hours of fun to be had on this game, even without modding. Even in 2022, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy remains one of, if not the best STAR WARS game of all time.
11/10, the day we see a better game will be a surprise, but a welcome one indeed.
