Spore Review (🚀 Aprucinela 🌋)
I have a deep affection for Maxis, they developed most of the games that made me fall in love with gaming, such as SimCity, SimFarm, Windows 3D Pinball, and The Sims. However, things started to go downhill when Maxis was acquired by EA. Games began to have their content split into DLCs, with each DLC costing the price of the original game. Additionally, EA started paying developers only until the final product was delivered, which resulted in no post-release support for the games.
Spore is an incredible and unique game, also developed by Maxis but at this time already under EA's control, and it suffered from the same issues as The Sims, with numerous DLCs each costing the price of the original game and no post-release support. Several times I tried repurchasing Spore on Steam with all it's DLCs to have the complete game, but guess what? Since it had become an old game, many incompatibilities and bugs occurred, and most of the purchased DLCs weren't even recognized by the game.
Now, as you can see, EA has removed all the DLCs from the store, but they haven't fixed the problem I mentioned earlier. They just made a workaround to try to integrate the DLCs into the game, which will bring even more issues. In my later purchases, the game crash or didn't even open, it's so sad.
Also, remember that when you subscribe to services like EA Play, you're agreeing to EA's abusive DRM policies. This requires constant internet connection even in offline games, acceptance of contracts for sharing your personal data with partners, and various usage restrictions. Even if this service were free, it would still be costly.
In 2010 the EA closes the studio where the old Maxis developers still existed, and in 2019 EA have opened another studio using the Maxis name, but there is nothing left of the old Maxis, only the name remains.
Rest in peace Maxis and Spore.
Go away from my games EA.
