Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion: HD Renovation Review (⭐️Hellix!!⭐)
As someone who has had a huge fixation on this game and has adored it since 2016-2017, I'm super happy that I could actually play and 100% it! Even with a hardcore fear of being chased, the adrenaline it gives and the knowledge that you are never safe makes the game super addicting! All the specimens have different techniques that spice up every chase, especially in Endless mode where you can be hunted down by more than one which makes you have to think while on the run. Some specimen combinations are downright evil, and can reset your run in an instant!
It can be slow at first, I co-op'd the game with a friend a while back and they described it as hallway simulator lol, but after the first 200 rooms the settings amps up its atmosphere and you start to encounter more twisty and tricky rooms that can end your run if you chose the wrong way. You have to keep your health and stamina in check while progressing since they can easily catch up to you if you blindly run through and drop your hp! The monsters are also all inspired by numerous real life creations, folk tales and internet stories that I'm sure one would appreciate if they are nostalgic about stuff like creepy pastas, or old horror video games like Clock Tower or Amnesia: The Dark Descent (ie: what I was crazy about back when I was younger).
There's also a story tied to the game and the mansion itself which the DLCS (which are free with the purchase of the game -wink-) do an excellent job portraying and gives the game more depth and character! They describe the more morbid and haunting part of the cutesy looking game, and what happened to lead up to the mansion and the creatures trapped inside. Its a simple, but pulling tale that I highly recommend indulging in if you find further interest after the initial mansion run!
The game play is very simple and it doesn't change much besides when you have to traverse special specimen introduction rooms (in context to the regular Mansion run and Endless mode), but if your someone who just likes the satisfaction of progress and simple game design, this game is perfect! Again, the more complex stuff is more so in the story telling and the specimens themselves; but you can still enjoy the game without reading all the Wiki articles, watching explanation videos or just consuming stuff outside the game itself lol. Those are just all the awesome bonuses to the base game :)
Can you tell it's a fixation lol
Overall, if you enjoy horror and want a fun game to play that's not super lore heavy (Silent Hill my beloved) and you can just pick up and play, I'd give Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion a shot!! I'm probably over hyping it but who can blame me when I've been obsessed with it for years :)
