SpookWare Review ([Engi Fam] Lefort)

EDIT: They updated the description and added a community update detailing the full situation! even downgraded the price which is beyond what I was expecting. Because of that I'm recommending the game again, however they decided to delete all of their itch.io page comments, so I'm not editing the following original review.
Not sure what to write here, didn't leave a review at all at first because I was waiting for the full thing to be done. And I guess now it "is" so here goes.
When this game first came out it was released with the expectation there would 4 episodes released for the game, each of which would span 3 chapters. The game has been put on indefinite hiatus / cancelled / abandoned and the "finished game" is 5 chapters.
The game itself is amazing, an excellent blend of a adventure game and a "wario-ware like". oozing with charm, with fun writing, game play, and plot. even with the "finished game" not being as long as originally advertised, a new player going in could enjoy the game as it as, as a finished whole product and I would say not be disappointed.
so why don't I recommend it? because while the itch.io page has been updated to reflect the "halting of development" the steam page has not. I am not sure I'm willing to believe this was a simple screw up (especially considering the itch.io version comes with a steam key on purchase) so whether it was laziness or something worse, I cannot in good conscious recommend this game when someone on steam could buy this game expecting what was originally promised and not getting it.
I'll update this review if the steam store description changes, or if the new episodes actually do release, but for now I would just recommend watching a play through of the game, a developer who lies to their consumer base either by omission or deliberately does not deserve your money.
if the dev is somehow reading this, please update the steam store page, you made an amazing product and while you have (and should not feel) any obligation to finish it, not making buyers of your game clear of it's current state is wrong.
