SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Review (My HIPS are moving on their OWN)
Spongebob Harlem Shake does exactly what it says from the getgo: a spiritual successor to 2005's Battle for Bikini Bottom. I'll begin with the speculatory side, the name and some of the ideas presented lead me to believe this game was in development for a fair bit. That out of the way the game utilizes the shows voice cast, the art direction is really true to the source material and overall feels like you're playing a modern version of a Spongebob 3d Platformer. Another positive this has over its predecessor is it feels a lot more finished towards the end, where the older game has levels getting shorter and more straightforward as it gets toward the end, the levels keep a consistent level of quality.
Regarding the world, the game's levels are a lot longer than the other games, but much more linear in nature. The game itself is in its entirety Spongebob Theme Episodes, you know the ones where its like "this is medieval, this is prehistoric, this is spooky, this ones a kafkaesque commentary on the lines at theme parks" they stick to this format for better and for worse, and I was never offended by them, but I can see if someone thinks this is hot Dog Water.
A sidebar, I've never been to Disney World, or Disney Land, I've been to the local fair and i was already vibrating in the 2 minute line how do you think i'd last in a 45 minute line to be angry on the splash mountain ride. I think you have to grow up exposed to that environment of slowly dying to be able to enjoy it for what it is.
Overall decent game, its modern and it doesn't cost 90 dollars so it kind of screams "take me home tonight"
