Spiritfall Review (kyle)

Highly recommended.
The game successfully takes the powerup scheme from Hades and a similar run layout and applies it to the Smash Bros control scheme, but is smart enough to not try to make it play just like Smash Bros.
When you first start the game may feel hard to control, but the game rewards practice with each of the weapons. You will get far more control over your actions and learn which buttons to press, although occasionally you can lose track of yourself in the chaos.
The upgrades are generally interesting and flavorful and useful. Most of the "blessings" (boons) you get during a run have flavor and do more than provide a basic "+20% damage". The bolt and assist blessings require practice like the weapons.
A few of the blessings and other features unfortunately have a "win more" quality or don't seem to do much unless you are very deep in a run, but largely the blessings are fun.
It is an attractive game with a largely consistent style. Story/Lore/Characters not as deep as Hades, if that's what you need, but that's not a thing for me.
