Spin Rhythm XD Review (Xoanon)
I tried it back in the days as it was released. I had my fun on keyboard and mouse, but I lost track as a more heavy VR rhythm gamer. As Spin got a VR mode I was pretty sceptic if that could be fun at all in VR - and I am relieved, it is very much fun!
Played about 80 hours so far in VR and climbed up from Normal over Hard to Expert now with motion gestures only. While of course it is not a dancing game, with a bit of practice you can dance while you play as well as soon as you are confident on the chosen difficulty.
It is a very pretty game in VR, I turned up the bloom to max and enabled the moving tracks (which are disabled by default to prevent people with motion sickness getting sick, but if you like movements in VR, turn it on!).
With a Valve Index and the Index controllers I suggest you also go to the controller mappings and a) remove the grips and b) add trackpad (up/down/whatever you like) to call the pause menu (as the Steam button of course will not work for Index players as a "game pause" button).
If you prefer just playing with motion controls only (you could also push buttons if you want, but I don't want to), I recommend "left": "beat", "right": "wheel" and "hold to move": "yes".
Everything else is on standard settings for me and works pretty well for now (up to Expert level).
And... there are raccoons! 🦝 (in the Chillhop DLC)
