Spec Ops: The Line Review (Donkey)
good performance
I didn't notice any bugs
This game is worth playing for the good story alone. It puts a twist to the generic "America, fuck yeah!" one man army fantasy, which is present in so many shooter campaigns.
The presentation is good and there are some cool and creative set pieces.
The game is short but in my opinion that is a good thing.
The gameplay is also pretty fun
BUT
This game has by far the worst keyboard and mouse controls I ever experienced in a shooter.
The keybinds are really unintuitive
f.e. sprinting, getting into cover and interacting is bound to the same button. You can change the button but you cant bind those actions to different buttons, which often leads to frustrating moments where your character doesnt do what you want.
The movement feels janky
You cant change FOV
But the worst part by far is aiming for multiple reasons:
1. The game has mouse acceleration
2. horizontal sensitivity is different to vertical sensitivity
3. up sensitivity is different to down sensitivity
4. The lowest sensitivity setting is still way to high
To change this i first edited the .ini files. But if you do this and manually lower the sensitivity you have DEADZONES! ... With a mouse! ... WTF!
In the end i reverted those changes and hat to manually change my dpi every time I wanted to play. But even then I had deadzones when using scoped weapons. So those were basically unusable.
TL;DR
good short story
fun gameplay
horrible keyboard and mouse controlls
=> play with controller if possible
