Songs of Conquest: Vanir Review (shamowow)
Songs of Conquest is a great experience, having more factions means more variety and replayability.
This being the 1st dlc for the game, a little overview/feedback:
The price is fair, considering the content added, not just a full faction (research, units roster, wielders, art, lore etc.) but also a biome!
I believe the addition of new biomes flies under the radar, i think its great for the game! Having new places to fight in is great when playing older factions, that way you still "see" the dlc, even when playing without vanir! Also great for the map editor. I hope you add another biome in time!
No campaign is a let down, i enjoyed the ones the basegame offers, i would love if you did a campaign dlc sometime for the new faction.
I think a good compromise would be to make 1 big mission/map part of the dlc, meant to introduce the faction and their lore. Having some kind of protagonist on a quest, highlighting what makes a vanir, well, vanir, would be great. Does not have to be a big story, just one self contained map would be enough.
The faction having a connection with the player would help immersion even in custom games! I enjoyed finding all the little lore snippets lying around in the maps in the basegame, having this for new factions would be very good i think.
Nevertheless, the art is beatiful, the new units interesting and fun, the biome and buildings are nice to look at as well:
Fully recommended!
