Solar Ash Review (juan.Iron Blood)

I was initially attracted to this game due to it's art direction and because I'm pretty sure some people from Hyper Light Drifter were in this proyect too (though I might be misinformed here). while the art direction is certainly a highlight of this game, I feel everything else about falls flat.
The game resembles Shadow of the Colossus in various aspects, you go to an area, do some platforming to summon a boss that you then climb on to to hit a weak-spot, once struck, the boss shakes you off and you have to climb again in a more challenging platforming sequence, only instead of the regular climbing from SotC, this game focuses on fast and fluid mobility that could remind you of certain 3D Sonic games, this is the core of all the gameplay, and it IS a good core, however, there's really nothing else to the gameplay than what I just mentioned, so the game becomes repetitive fast, additionally the controls feel somewhat clunky at times, specially during some of the boss-fights and this will often result in you not being able to start the climbing sequences when needed and thus making many fights so much longer than what they should be.
The game has some minor customization in the shape of changing your clothes, and different clothes provide small buffs, but I didn't feel they impacted the game too much for me to bother gathering the pieces needed to unlock them.
I usually enjoy fast-paced adventure games like what this game is aiming to be, however it all felt too unpolished for me to care.
you can buy it if it's severely discounted and finish it in one or two afternoons but it probably won't leave much of an impression on you either except the dissapointing feeling of some wasted potential.
