Smile For Me Review (haveyouseenevelyn)

Like Hello Neighbour, but done right. Coincidentally, another of Yugo's works is titled "Be Kind, My Neighbor". After having read through that, I was dazzled when I found out this game was also by Yugo, and bought it immediately upon realization, and for the visuals alone. Yugo's art is so charismatic, so plush and textile, and so autumnal and cozy.
The voices are adorable, the music is both catchy and dynamic, fading in and out and switching between "foreground" and "background", i.e. stepping out of the spotlight and letting the music play faded. Limbo's art in their book alone had me starstruck, and this game delivered more of that than I was prepared for, but I loved every second of it.
The story, too, was enthralling. Elements of building rapport and close connections with—and between—characters combined with puzzles that have you running up and down the tastefully coloured halls and stairwells. Working in tandem with the inhabitants of The Habitat to work against Habit was a fantastic way to be fed the story.
If you're a fan of cults, puppets, floral aesthetics and puzzles, you'll love this game. And if you love murder, deception and sacrifice on top of that, you'll love Limbo's book, "Be Kind, My Neighbor". A perfect 10 from me !
