Shieldwall Review (Sir Hectorio)
I can't really recommend the game as it looks abandoned and has some bugs that noone seems to care about.
My son likes to play this, because its like moving toy figures into a fight and he can chose playing romans, egyptians or greeks. that is ok, aswell as the artwork.
You can recruit a signbearer who gives you certain bonuses and permanently stands in your way when you want to fight enemies. so the positioning of the friendly ai sometimes is frustratingly dumb and annoying.
After a long time this game got an "update" some months ago and it consisted in a lowered "easy" game difficulty and a new map. Some commentators got the impression thats it was a pro-forma update not to be removed from sales and still be able to create some income. this maybe near to the truth, because the game feels overpriced and abandoned.
The first campaign battles are quite easy, the last ones were challenging so a reduced difficulty was the right choice to have more players get a playthrough, since only 2.8% of the players reached the final level. I suppose that most gave up, because the computer AI is quite challenging (or "cheating") with instantly respawning soldiers while you have to get to a respawn point and respawn manually (which takes longer). Sometimes it even isnt possible to achieve the win by defeating the opponent in fight, but by runnung down the clock in earning more points. that is frustratingly annoying, if you have to do it for 20, 30 or 40 minutes just to recapture the point, the enemy just took, because you cant conquer the last enemy base.
tl;dr: yes, the game can make fun in the first fights but is quite a chore in the last levels. due to the state of AI, the update-situation and the price I cant recommend it until you get it with a massive discount.
