Shadow of the Tomb Raider: The Price of Survival Review (Theoran)
As I played through the first 3 DLCs I had a nagging feeling that I couldn’t shake. All these DLCs should be regular missions in the main game and should be done during the main game not after you’ve completed the game. It’s out of place to complete these added missions after the fact. So far, we’ve uncovered Abby’s lineage which is ok to do after completing the game since it’s not integral to the plot.
Next, we need to find a shield that has an inscription of the ordination ritual that will prove that Unuratu is the next Age Maker, and that Amaru is the false god… but the shield actually ends up reinforcing Amaru's position more that Unuratu's so we destroy it. None of this matters though since you are playing this after Unuratu and Amaru are dead.
Then, Uchu has us find a recipe for a poison that could help the rebellion even though we’ve already wiped out the cult of Kukulkan.
Now, we are decoding Amaru’s cypher wheel to find out what he is hiding. Once we find that we return the cypher wheel to him because it is of significant personal value to him… but we killed him at the end of the game or playing this after the fact is dumb… My point in all of this is that this needs to be played during the game NOT after in a later DLC. it should have been in the base game.
The content of this DLC is heavily story driven and even with my previously stated gripes, it is the best of the first four. There are three areas to explore, a combat sequence, and a story that humanizes Amaru which would have been nice to know before completing the game…
